About the Artist
Gintaras Varnagys is a fine art photographer who creates intriguing and challenging images across a range of areas. Working with landscape, cityscape as well as portraiture and travel his representational photography has been exhibited in galleries across Europe and America. Varnagys’ first experience of photography was when as a child he saved for almost a year to buy a Smena 35 mm camera. He developed and printed all of his images at home allowing him to experiment with different processes and techniques while all of the time learning from the images of the masters to help him grow as a photographer. After working in fashion and tailoring for over 20 years Varnagys returned to taking pictures. While using both digital and analogue film cameras, he still prefers to use classic black and white film and his collection of vintage cameras to create his, at times, surreal images. He has participated in many groups shows and exhibitions and has been published in print and online.
