About the Artist
A graduate of BA Photography from IADT Dún Laoghaire (2019), Hugh Quigley works primarily in medium-format documentary photography with a focus on humanity’s attempts to control and capitalise on non-human beings and natural commodities, as well as a broader interest in visual ethnography and the contentious grey areas of the human condition. Through long-term projects in which he embeds himself within communities, Quigley attempts to explore and raise questions about the issues at hand with empathy and an acknowledgment of their complexity, while avoiding definite answers.
