About the Artist
Ria Czerniak-LeBov is an artist and musician from Dublin. In 2016 she graduated with first class honours from NCAD, studying Fine Art Print and History of Art. Ria received graduate awards from both Graphic Studio Dublin and Black Church print studio, for her body of work Fragments and Re-Imaginings and is now a full time member of Graphic Studio Dublin. Her work has been shown at The Royal Hibernian Academy, The Royal Ulster Academy, St. Patrick’s Hospital, Trinity College Dublin, Impressions Print Biennale (GMIT), The National Botanic Gardens, Illuminations (Maynooth University), Glór (Ennis), Ashbourne Library, Graphic Studio Gallery, Halftone Print Fair and The Printmaker’s Gallery. Her etchings have also appeared is various printed publications, musical releases and online literary journals, including Cyphers Poetry Magazine and The Pickled Body online poetry journal.
Ria’s work is concerned with the subjectivity of memory, especially that of the urban landscape. Viewing cities through various digital devices (from camera phone apps to google streetview) Czerniak-LeBov’s renderings of space are made strange, perspectives warped and fractured, and yet they maintain the familiarity of somewhere you are almost but not quite acquainted with.
