These images draw from research of an emerging body of work. The series seeks to investigate the impact of historical trauma, from both a psychological and social perspective. Themes of surveillance, myth and legacy work together to illustrate the complexities of traumatic experiences. This ongoing body of work is currently taken from MFA practice based research at the Belfast School of Art at Ulster University.

About the Artist

Aoife Herrity is an Irish visual artist based in Dublin. Her primary medium is photography with specific focus on portraiture and environmental spaces. Key areas of interest involve social identity and the psychology of space. These interests are considered with regards to both personal history and the characteristics of folklore. Current working themes explore domestic and sexual trauma with specific regard its impact on identity, family and memory.
